بِرْکْلی، شهر (Berkeley)
شهری در ایالت کالیفرنیای امریکا، در کنار خلیج سانفرانسیسکو، در شمال بخش آلامدا، با 124,321 نفر جمعیت (2020) و 45.73 کیلومتر مربع مساحت. در ارتفاع 52 متری از سطح دریا واقع شده است. در ۱۸۵۳ به‌منظور تأسیس دانشگاهی در آن بنیاد نهاده شد. دانشگاه برکلی در ۱۸۷۳ افتتاح شد. این شهر به نام اسقف و فیلسوف انگلیسی - ایرلندیِ قرن 18، جورج برکلی، نامگذاری شده است. از جنوب با شهرهای اوکلند و امریویل، و از شمال با شهر آلبنی و کنزینگتون هم‌مرز است.

Berkeley is home to the oldest campus in the University of California, the University of California, Berkeley, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which is managed and operated by the university. It also has the Graduate Theological Union, one of the largest religious studies institutions in the world. Berkeley is considered one of the most socially progressive cities in the United States.
